Fellowship Ministries

Coffee Hour & Fellowship

Everyone is invited to share in the coffee hour in the Noah Room, after each service. This is a great opportunity to greet old friends and make new ones. Members of the Parish take turns providing the refreshments. Some ideas for drinks (other than the coffee provided by the church), are juices or iced tea. You may consider any finger food like cookies, muffins, bagels, crackers and cheese, fruit, and vegetable tray. For more information please contact Mary Ann Renzi.

Fellowship Dinner Groups

There is nothing like eating together in someone's home to get to know them. That is afforded by fellowship dinners for six to eight people (singles/couples). It is a great opportunity to meet and become better acquainted with other St. Mary's members. The goal is simple, good food and good fellowship. Many long term friendships result. The groups get together four times, once a month. At the end of the four month period, members sign up again for a new fellowship group. This allows you the opportunity to have fellowship and learn about many of your St. Mary's family members over a period of time.

Parish Life and Fellowship

St. Mary's has a number of ways that are primarily social in nature which help people to know each other better and to become more involved in the life of the church. The parish has an annual Pentecost Day picnic and an annual St Mary's day celebration. On Shrove Tuesday, members enjoy a Pancake Supper on the evening before Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent. A week before Christmas we have a pot luck and greening of the church. St Mary's during the year will have occasional continental breakfasts where the two church services can have joint fellowship with each other.

S.M.A.R.T. Seniors

SMART is a social and service group for those who are fifty-five or older. The group has a luncheon meeting the first and third Thursday of every month at 12 noon in the Noah Room. On the last Sunday of each month they have a bake sale between the services. The funds raised by the seniors have gone to purchase a TV for the nursery, 24 folding chairs, folding tables, refurbishing the Noah room (paint, wallpaper boarder, and curtains), a traveling communion kit, and palms for Easter Sunday. They have also donated funds to Amanda Wright for her mission to Romania, to the Red Cross for Katrina hurricane relief, to Father Coloma for his church in the Philippines, to Sarah Jacobs for her missionary work, and to Elk Grove Cares to help toward the purchase of a van and wheelchair for previous St Mary's member, David Simpson. The seniors also get together for fun events; they have season tickets to the Davis Musical Theatre and go on fun outings, they have been to Apple Hill, Daffodil Hill, California History Museum, State Capital, Jelly Belly Factory, and the Pumpkin Farm.  For more information please contact Paula Sink.

Welcome Committee/Hospitality

This committee is responsible for welcoming visitors and assimilating new members in St. Mary's. Newcomers and visitors are a gift to us, and we would like to make you feel welcome and get to know you better. If you are a newcomer or a visitor and plan to attend a service please let us know so we can make you feel at home. Please fill out one of our welcome cards and put it in the offering basin. We all enjoy the fellowship following Sunday services when we can visit with our friends and welcome new-comers to our parish.
